Hello :)
I recently purchased a pair of Naraguense from the local fish shop, and the fish shop owner didn't have much information on them.
Im looking to breed them, i have them now in a 130 litre tank (tropiquarium 88) with no other fish, plenty plantpots, slates, plants and other hiding places for them too.
The male is roughly about 6-7 cm and the female about 5-6 cm in size, i dont have a clue how big they have to be to breed?
There happily chasing after each other just now but no signs of breeding and the only reason i bought them was too breed them as i have had much succes with the kribensis and other small cichlids breeding before.
Any information and advice at all you could give me would be much appreciated, thanks.

Hmm there no way near as big, and they do not have blue heads like them.
And the sign beside the tank that they were in in the fish shop said exactly 'Cich. Nicaraguense.'
But anyways yes they are very similar so im guessing that that is the species.
What do you think?

I think you need to share a few photos, because I'm not able to place the fish you're talking about.

Or find some photos of that fish.

If you indeed have a male and a female, keep an eye out for excessive digging. My pair will dig ALOT before they breed. Usually they will dig out a hole underneath a piece of driftwood or slate or breed inside a ceramic pot. The eggs are non-adhesive, so they are a little different than most cichlids.
