I've got two 4" tems that are overly aggressive. At first one kicked the snot out of the other to the point where he wouldn't eat so I separated them. Then the one I left in the tank turns psycho on the tankmates (6" aro) and roughed him up to the point where he was hiding with the datnoids. I had to move him to the other tank with the other tem but as soon as he got into the tank I swore the other tem was going to suck his eye out!:cry:

I turned out the lights hoping to give him a chance to get away and so far so good (he was still alive this morning).

I've tried adding plants and dithers but they dont' seem to phase the tems. I've tried rearanging structure but this only delays the beatings.

:nilly:So my questions::nilly:

Are all cichla this aggresive or just tems (I've read numerous post about tems turning aggressive)?

How do you prevent this time of aggression? Add more cichla? Add a lot more structure?

If I don't figure something out I might have to sell the tems. off.

Thanks guys!

What size are the tanks that these guy's are in? How many occupant's in the tank? Generally Cichla will establish hierchy no matter what. It sounds like you have to many Chiefs and no indians, if that makes sense.

Makes total sense. Like a pack with two alpha males.

They were in a 75g with 3 NTT dats, 1 NGT dat, and a 6" silver.

They're now in a 120g with 7 blood parrots and 6 silver dollars.
