I've got two 4" tems that are overly aggressive. At first one kicked the snot out of the other to the point where he wouldn't eat so I separated them. Then the one I left in the tank turns psycho on the tankmates (6" aro) and roughed him up to the point where he was hiding with the datnoids. I had to move him to the other tank with the other tem but as soon as he got into the tank I swore the other tem was going to suck his eye out!
I turned out the lights hoping to give him a chance to get away and so far so good (he was still alive this morning).
I've tried adding plants and dithers but they dont' seem to phase the tems. I've tried rearanging structure but this only delays the beatings.
So my questions:
Are all cichla this aggresive or just tems (I've read numerous post about tems turning aggressive)?
How do you prevent this time of aggression? Add more cichla? Add a lot more structure?
If I don't figure something out I might have to sell the tems. off.
Thanks guys!
