Cichla aggression?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
In unsure my F2 Bahia is super chill but I think that's because he knows my Orino is the boss. My RM Orino is my only aggressive cichla

I would say it just depends on the cichla. I had a captive bred bahia kelberi and it was aggressive when it needed to be. All 3 of my wild caught Orinos are aggressive when they need to be too. They always nip at each other and flare up but have never caused serious damage to each other. I think the tank size and other fish in the tank play a factor as well.

Supposedly the Orino I got from a friend was a CB and the Orino I picked up is supposedly WC, the WC is now in the 30 gallon to heal up from the CBs wrath. Other things may factor in though he was already in the tank and is hogging cichlid gold and carni sticks so he's fat and sassy, individual temperament probably plays a part as well

I find temperature affects aggression. Higher the temp = more fighting. Also species plays a part.

X2 agreed. My CBs are just as pissy as my WC in the right conditions. My orinos are definitely my meanest bass. My Tem has his moments too.

This half breed petco cb mono/ocell is a major PUNK !!!!!! Spazzed out and had the entire tank on one side while he had the rest to himself
