cichla biting rays tail/stinger area?

my cichla keep trying to bite the tail i think its because they think its some type of worm or edible but im afraid they will get stung and die..what do i do? anyone been confronted with this?

Mine did that for a wile too. They cut it out after a few days though. Hopefully yours do the same.

Best if u seperate them before your ray's tail gets infected with fungus from all the biting.
