Alright I'm working with a 265 (84x24x30) and would like a pair or small group of cichla is there any particular species that would be best for my tank. Keep in mind I'm new to cichla so I don't want to spend a small fortune on something I've never done before. Thanks for any advice in advance.

A small fortune is a understatement when it comes to feeding bass. With that said, I would do a nice pair of Kelberis, pleiazonas, xingus, or even orinos. Orinos would be your best best because they don't carry a hefty price tag per fish. Peruvian monos also have great color. Tems and pinimas will out grow your tank in a couple of years.

Thanks, i know that feeding them won't be cheap im just not interested in paying 150$ per fish my lfs orders from segrest faMrs and occasionally gets in cichla and sells them fir about 15 dollars so im not really sure of the species but i really like adult monos

So do you think that orinos would be best for beginner cichla keepers?

Orino, mono, ocell are the "cheaper" species. But that doesn't mean they're the ugliest

In my view other than orinos kelberi r the best looking but carry a hefty price tag

Oh and i decided my final stock for my 265: 2 orinos, 5 red head geos, 3 uarus, 1 silver aro, and maybe a pair of motoro rays. Sound like a coexistable stock?
