buddys big tank developed a leak, and the only thing alive when he got home was a ocellaris...nice little guy about 8 inches I reckon. Well I had a 55 with just convicts so I booted them to another 30 long and threw the peacock in (his best alternative). First time keeping cichla (used to have a 180 with a Jar and stuff so know a bit about big fish keeping). This guy is on pellets already (feed him hikari)
my question to you guys is
1. how long till he reaches 12 inches (width of tank?) based off some research I know they grow big, but obviously my friends 180 is out of commision, and besides throwing him in some random lake I was the next best fast solution.
2. how much pellets should he eat (fed him about 12 hikari food sticks today)?
3. does he need any other type of mixed nutrition (fed my jar a mix of pellets, shrimps, crickets, and homegrown Convict cichlids...still have about 40-50 convicts about 1 inch and 2 breeding pairs)
4. have a eheim 2217 and a AC70 on it currently-enough filtration?
thanks for the advice..would ask my friend but he works airlines and is on his 3 days in a row shift now....he said just treat it like my old Jar it will be fine...just making sure though...
