Cichla ID please

That was my second guess. I used to own azul bass, from juvies to around 14-15", and they looked very similar to what you have posted. That being said, the speckling on the top on them kind of reminded me of temensis as well :S
 
what worries me is that they have no color on the caudal fin. poor quality specimen?
