I saw in an old post here that someone had obtained some jariina in the US. Can anyone confirm this and provide details? Also, I talked to Jeff today and he told me no one has brought vazzoleri in yet. I'd be curious on how to do this myself. Who are the guys on MFK that used to organize collecting trips? It may be time to go.

I tip my hat to your LFS for bringing in unique fish. But a shop that won't let you take pictures and can't/won't ID what they're peddling isn't a shop I can deal with in this matter.

If you really want someone to grow them out to see what you bought, send me a PM. I may be willing to throw a couple in the 1000g tank as long as I'm comfortable they aren't azuls.

Like I said before, come around spring time in Canada or the dry season in Amazon.

Just bring a stack of $100 bills and visit fish stores across the Greater Toronto Area. You will be AMAZE~!

You can't say an Asian Arowana is a Jardini (people are not stupid), but when they bring in WC from South America, it's all comes down to your knowledge on fish and your bargaining power, it's always full of surprises! Just like dipping a net in the Amazon, every year is different!

Sometimes they will give you suprises, or sometimes disappointment, it's really depend on what the fishermen catches at the other end. They enjoy taking your cash and you will enjoy their mysterious live stocks. It's a WIN WIN situation in both end! :D

Althou the lfs check this site and check what I said in MFK, and adjust their price accordingly.

It still feels like I went to South America every year without being actually there! :p

So no one knows anything about these mysterious jariina? Someone must have been talking $%#^ on the forum...I've never seen that happen before. :liar:

Duh? You don't think I have these sp. growing out in my tanks?

I rather have real information then what you read on the net. So don't jump to assumption. We/us grow out bass that come in and see what they really are.
Why do you think I give input on bass that I/we grow?

Come on now. There is a group load of people bringing in bass, we grab 5-10 of them to see if they are what they say they are, but we will not call them out on it, we let action speak louder then words. I'm/we are giving the vendors the benefit of the doubt.

But don't trust us. We care less if you spend more for something less. I/we don't care. As long as we/I know what I'm buying is all that matters.

And this is why I enjoy seeing posts from you/them. I am amazed of the different, harder to obtain types of cichla that have been imported in recent years. I have been out of the game for 5 years almost. I remember people going bonkers over azuls being imported and now they are easily obtainable. Keep up the awesome work!

Not sure if that's meant to be a funny. But...no...I don't.

Not sure how I'm jumping to assumptions. Someone posted in another thread that jariina have been brought in to the US. I'm trying to confirm. Feel free to post some real information on the subject.

We/us grow out bass that come in and see what they really are.

I'm not sure what that has to do with the original question.

Why do you think I give input on bass that I/we grow?

One small part to help the community. One large part to make yourself feel important. You asked...

Still not sure what you're on about. It's a simple question really. Have jariina been imported into the US?

But don't trust us. We care less if you spend more for something less. I/we don't care. As long as we/I know what I'm buying is all that matters.

So which is it? You raise bass all the time to see what they really are, or knowing what you're buying is all that really matters? I feel like I'm being lectured by Dr. Suess.

"Quality, over quantity."

Errrr...ok.

Ok, so you've jumped up on your soapbox and I've kicked it out from under your feet. Let's get back to the question at hand...it's a rather simple one really. You can PM me to continue this conversation if you feel the need.

To answer your question and make it less confusing to you, the "jariinas" that came in to the US are in fact orinos.

I know. Someone beat you to it with a simple, one line response via PM that Mark at DO brought some in that were incorrectly ID'd.
