These F1 mono’s look really sweet, I have personally never seen these before. What do you guys think? Would you have these in your collection if they were available?

I'd add them to my collection. Is that botners tank? I believe he had a bunch a while back. I always loved wild monos. Those have a nice beefy torpedo shape to them. R1 Ryda had some of the nicest Peru monos on the forum back in the day.

I did. I got them pretty big before I had to make some room for more kelberis ;) they turned out nice too. I had a lot of fish in that small tank at the time. I believe 3 Peru monos, 4 or 5 kelberis, 2 orinos, a pinima and 2 occels. 8o. Overstocked at its finest.

Yeah that would be nice if they became available. I'm interested in how his mono/ocel xingu hybrids will look. I also wish he had some nice kelberis that he would breed. I wonder what his secret is for breeding cichka. He seems to do it without any issues.

He definitely is a genius at breeding cichla, I remember watching a video of his wc intermedia pairing up when these cichla were not available to us. Pretty amazing stuff, I have only had 1 bass lay eggs my first wc broko I was doing 2 and 3 water changes a week on that tank with colder than tank water. So I know that triggers bass I guess it simulates rainy season?

Yeah. He has a nice collection. Sadly the market for cichla just isn't there anymore and vendors don't want the hassle of bringing these bass over.

Most people are impatient with trying to breed cichla. They need some time under their belt to mature and they seem to breed best in the 14-18" plus range. I think the large tanks bottner has allows his bass to grow big and mature fast which helps him get them to breed.
