cichla nuchal hump

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
depends on the cichla

monos nuchal hump usually develop fast but far as that time will tell
usually venting them is the only way to find out or until they spawn(get it on) lol.

My four pbass (10" - 14") have large humps on their heads (one is almost 1" high). I guess they are all male and sometimes do mouth locking and biting. I have gotten wet a few times when they chased each other and I was near the tank. The tank has covers but they were powerfull enough to force the water out of the tank (6' high on the stand) and onto me 2' away (rotten fish). But usually they are just chilling or slowly swimming near the top, waiting for shrimp.

wow 2 cichla locking up, i have never seen that.

are you sure all 4 of yours are males? i think i have seen a m/f pair where the male had a huge hump and the female had a slight hump.

yeah im pretty sure i saw high city's mono pair both had humps when they were breeding. check his threads. i wish my cichla had humps :(

My guess is it's either female or a loner male (no other cichla in the tank.)
