If the temp drops a bit than I will cover the screened wall and add a 400 watt heater. If your pond is sealed and covered properly and if you add a heater the temperture will not be a problem. I am in tampa and it only gets cold here during the first two weeks on january after that winter is over. In florida we have two seasons summer and fall lol that about it.
Ah, I thought you meant that you would not need a heater when you said "heat won't be a problem". I live just outside Orlando. It can get below 70 for 4 months. But yeah, if you covered it and put a large heater in there, you'll be able to keep them alive. The shelter that the covered lanai gives will be a definitely plus.
