Hello,
I am looking to expand on my fish, go into a little more exotic ones. Right now i have a 220 gallon 6x2x2.5 tank with 3 Tinfoil Barbs, around 6-7 inches, 2 Delhezi Bichirs around 6-7 inches, and 1 Indo Datnoid around 4-5 inches. I also have an empty 55 gallon that I am planning on using as a growout. I have always wanted a peacock bass and a stingray.

Do you think I would be able to fit either one/both in here for a long period of time? After looking around I am thinking of an Orino bass as I hear they are pretty slow growers. As for stingray a Hystrix or Rectic would be the ones.

I will get a bigger fish tank eventually, but not sure if that will happen in the next year, or the next 5 years. So i would like something that will pretty comfortably be in my tank for 4-5 years.

Could i add either of these fish and be ok? Size-wise and also compatibility-wise?

Thanks!

You can keep some of the smaller cichla in there. I don't imagine that rays would last 4-5 years without needing a bigger footprint, though. I'd say cichla are a safer bet.

Both would be a tight fit once they really start growing. Retic rays do stay the smallest. As for bass that amount of tank space would even be small with a few but would work for a good while. Think of a 14" fish in that tank. They grow fast also does not take long once they really start eating. If you plan a larger tank great. If you are set on these fish get just two bass and one to two stingray. Then make sure you have good filtration and do your water changes.

Right, i was not planning on getting multiple stingrays or multiple bass. Just 1 bass or 1 stingray or 1 of both. I have 2 FX5's as filtration and will keep up on water changes. The only compatibility i would worry about is possibly the birchirs and stingray, i could move the bichirs over to the 55g though. And im not sure if the barbs/dat would have any intention to go after the stingrays eyes.

A retic ray or a hystrix ray would be okay in my eye I would have more then one though and you could keep some smaller cichla species in that tank pretty easy also

Wouldnt have more than 1 ray? Or would a pair be better?
