so ... i have a male and female pair about 14" ... like paired but no breeding yet if u know wat i mean...
male is getting ready to rumble already... hump is growing on his head.. while the female still havent recover from shipping 3weeks ago.... and it seems like the female wont catch up with health as the male. her fins r ripped and she eats a lot less than the male...she still sits on the bottom sometime...

i have another 18" that i think its female .... shes really healthy . BUT 4" more is a lot bigger since as you know, its not only the length, but the girth/height of the fish is more too ... would it make sense if i try to drop that big mama in that tank. or would that mess up the already paired pair ...

any advice or suggestion are appreciated :D

usually lack of appetite means they are getting ready to breed. or something bad. (im serious)

keep the female he is used to in the tank alone with him flat rock is good for another month or 2 if nothing then you can remove and switch females if u choose otherwise keep the female he is used to in there for a while up to a year by then something should happen or not.

alright... i guess patience will pay off : )
hope the female starts eating more though, shes eating like 5 -6 massivore while the male is eating like 20.... or whenever i feed 3" long tilapia strips.... she eats 1 instead of lik the male 3

If they've only been together 3 weeks how do you know they are paired. It sounds like one cichla forcing his dominance on the other. I'd switch the females around until the other one is really healthy. Not worth taking any chances imo. Meanwhile you can watch how the other ones are behaving.

i bought it as a pair ( and paid a lot more just because its a pair) .. .if it turns out they arent, " somebody is gonna get hurt real bad" (<- a line from a comedy show xD )

as for now, female is still not eating much, and her fins r still ripped ... i added more melafix in today, hope that helps her... on the other hand, male is growing a hump
