Hi,
I have a 185 gallon tank 5'X2.5'X2' with a big UV canister and a sump. I don't know about the canister, but the sump kicks out 1200 gph.
The fish are:
1 6-7"female motoro,
1 male motoro (same size, coming in this week)
1 8" silver aro,

And I was wondering if I could get the little juvenile cichla occelars my lfs has.
It's 2". This will be the long term home for it, but not the rays.
Thanks.

No,
The aro eats ANYTHING, least picky eater i've ever seen. Same goes for the female ray, but she won't eat krill.

2" cichla could be a problem.. in the sense of it being an expensive feeder..

Perhaps you can use a smaller tank as a growout for the two incher untill it is big enough to go in the 185 safely.

Can do. Would ether the 35 gallon sump (ok for fish, I kept a pair of convicts in their for a few months) a 40 gallon tank with a 6" rapheals cat and some congo tetras, or my 110 with archer fish (Hard water pH8.2 freshwater)?

Also, Sorry to question your advice, but the cichla couldn't fit in any of the fishes mouths. Would they still try to eat it?
Will the cichla be ok in there for life?

the aro might try to eat em. even if it doesnt quite fit, they sometimes will try anyway. some of my fish have done it and got the fish down after an hour or so.

Maybe I have sizes mixed up.
I was just at the lfs and the cichla is bigger thank I though, about 3.5"
My aro can't even fit my finger or half a cube of bloodworms in his mouth. He'd really try?

The 40 should be a good starter home as the congos should'nt be too much trouble.I would'nt trust the archers in the other tank. The 185 should be good for it for life if you cant get a bigger tank.
