OK, just so everyone knows I know Nothing about cichla. I have read through the ID thread but could not find much about total adult sizes or tank sizes. I am building a tank that will be 44 1/8 x 44 1/8 x 21 and just want to know if I could keep a single pair of ANY cichla? I would like to try my hand at breeding them when the tank is built. If a pair will not work in the tank I will just opt for something else. Thanks in advance for any help!

you should have a minimum of 84" long, esp for breeding maybe even larger...you can pm a member on here, names Tongue33 and he can tell you whats size his tanks is. I has successfully breed his cichla. Search some of his posts and maybe you can find out. GL

you really need something at least 8'x2' wide even for the smaller cichla species... cichla are constant cruisers and don't really sit in one spot much..
tongue33s is a 250g 8 ft long way nice tank i personally think thats the smallest you should go but i've heard 300g is min
