So, my 6"-7" Cichla had been spitting out feeders for the past 2 weeks. He didn't lose his appetite because he was still eager to get food and even looked extremely hungry but every time he attacked a feeder he would spit it out, small or large.
So I decided to try medication. I bought API T.C. TETRACYCLINE (for external and internal bacterial infections) and put him in a 10 gallon tank, added aeration, salt, and medication. He sat really still in the hospital tank for about a day and a half. Then He started getting excited pushing against the tank like begging to get out. So I decided to let him out a bit earlier than the full dose.
After I let him back into his home I waited till the next day to feed him and he swallowed every feeder I gave him without a problem!!! Problem solved!
I didn't really find a consistent answer when I did a search so I thought I'd share my fishes experience with you all. Hope this will help others.
