Cichla with torn jaw.

I was going to do a water change then when I stuck my hand in the tank to grab the driftwood the mono came flying out of the tank whacking me on the side of my head and fell to the ground. I looked at it flapping and seen that it was still alive. (not unconscious) I put him back in the tank later to find that the jaw ripped and some scales came off.

Does anyone know if it'll heal properly? I'm pretty devastated because I just got him from a friend a couple days ago. He let me borrow him for my breeding project.

I'd use melafix/salt and hope for the best...I don't think your friend is going to be very impressed.

Okay i'll pick some up today. Can Hawaiian salt work? Straight from the ocean.
I know i'm sad. I told him about it he was trippin'.
 
i think it should heal fine. my oscar got ripped up like that fighting with another fish. he healed with no problems

Did the jaw go back into place?

Well I added Salt to my tank. Hopefully it works.
