That is what there bodies are built for they are a live eating machine !!!!!The thing with feeding live is having a healthy live food on a constant basis if you don't or can't supply it .Best to feed them dry and frozen fresh chunks of fillets from you market....Don't know if thats what the guy was tryen to say ...

I have a peacock and a teminsis bass and all they will eat is live food. I usually buy feeders treat them with metaflex and keep them in a seperate tank for a week befor i feed them.

There is a risk with live feeders as they CAN carry parasites, bacteria etc that can harm you fish. Not EVERY feeder will carry these infectious microbes.

I have been feeding my cichla live feeder since they were 2 inches and have not had a problem (knocks on wood).

If you can't stomach the risk, train them on pellets, but that will also not gaurantee that they won't die of disease.

I think too commonly, people automactically link there sick pbass with live feeders, which may not be the case. Fish get sick and die, whether on pellets or live.

Did this person work at the store?I ask because I was wondering if they have any peacocks there and what are they feeding them.If they have peacocks that are not being fed live foods then those P's might not be a bad idea if you've seen and like them. They are already trained off of live.

shoot i wish petstores wouldent feed live b much easier when bought to pellet train..

Most places probably don't have the time to be bothered with starving and training the cichla. They have to get them sold and turn a profit.

mine eat market prawans sometime ... still wondering what stimulate them. 4 kelberi but not all of them eat...make the portion with little legs... look lke fish to them shrugs... i fed them with shells on ...meant for my arrow sometime they eat it... most of the time they went into the mouth... they wont spit it out ... lol coz it chewy and nice.

i am too getting sick of going to the aquarium everytime just to buy feeder .. and i have a local snake head in the feeder that will pick on the feeders .. ( use to use them as feeder but left 1 now ) if the snake head die it means bad news.. but it getting fat and big... :S...
