I picked out a male and a female (both 1.5" long) from a large batch at an LFS and put them in a 30g. Is there any real likelihood of them pairing up? They're liplocking like crazy right now - they've been at it for half an hour. They're so tiny, I figured they'd be fine in a 30g. :(

Also, they're uber skittish and shy. :( :( :(

So, is there any real likelihood of them bonding and becoming a pair, since they're already fighting so much? BTW, females have a black blotch in the dorsal fin and males don't, right?

it would be much better to put 6 or so in your tank, let a pair form and then take the rest back to your lfs

mark.

As you may also be aware, a 30gal won't suit them long term. Probably going to want at least a 55 for a pair of Salvini's if you've going to have anything else in the tank.

Out of 12 I only had 1 pair. As stated you may want to get more if you really want a pair.

Right on!

The female has the best color and the dark patch on her dorsal fin. You'll be very happy with them. Mean but equally colorful. I wana see pics!!
