I am gonna trade some of my cichlids for a group of these guys but i dont know very much about them....please give any advice such as to there temperment when breeding, size, and overall experiences?????

G'day,

These are spectacular fish and I'd highly recommend going for them.
They are pretty easy going in respect to conditons, breeding etc, much like cons. They also are very protective parents. I have two pairs in my pond that survived winter at approx 15 plus or minus degrees Celsius and are now successfully protecting their young (1cm now)against, much larger cichlids. Funny to watch them chase them off.

Males develop stunning finnage and can achieve approx 6 inch in size.We named our original female "Cutie" because she was just gorgeous, great character and was very personable. Their tank was in my computer room and (when she wasn't guarding fry) would always be at the front of the tank watching us, we miss her dearly. But her daughters have developed the same traits so the joy continues.

I'd highly recommend this fish as they are hardy as convicts but from experience have better personalities/ temperaments(although still tough).

all the best

Cheers
