Cichlid age for color to show?

Females are less colorful, males are in full color when breeding and also status in the tank can effect their color.
 
It depends...usually the dominant males come into color between 5-8 months from hatching. They will color up faster if they are in the presence of females. But many things can influence color; tank space, water quality, water temperature, quality foods, hierarchy, etc.
