In the other fourm section I haven't got a reply so I'm going to try here! My cichlid has recently been acting odd and has had a drastic color change. I noticed it the day after I rearranged the tank and added some dither cichlids to his tank. ( they aren't permanent residents). He is usually very bright colored and is always out swimming and is not afraid of anything but its been a week and he still is all dark and skittish. I can't even be by the tank when he eats now. I thought he might be just re adjusting but it's been a week. He is eating normally though once I leave. Any ideas? Could it be an underlying illness, and he isn't being bullied. Definitely is the king. ( reason I'm not saying his species in the text lol) but here is his change I'm starting to be concerned

And the water parameters are perfect right now, just tested it yesterday

Since you moved around the decor he is going to act like he has been moved to an entirely new location, so it may take him a little bit of time to readjust his behavior.

How long will it take? Its been a whole week?

With flowerhorns will drastically change colors as they grow, but there could be other reasons for the temperament/color change.

What size tank is it in and what other fish are in the tank?

He is in a 55. When I first had him there were a few plants but the whole tank was open. I have a Female Carpintis that is a deal smaller and they get along well.they have been alone together for a couple months. But I took in an Mbuna and two convicts from a friend that couldn't keep them. Then I added hiding spots and that's when the color and mood change happened. Its been a week now, and I'm going to move the Texas and get rid of the others sometime in August
