this morning having to realise the loss of my poor male Viejita. a beautifully coloured dwarf cichlid who was truly my favorite.
He was moved into a smaller tank to breed with his female and i didnt see him for a couple of days, so last night i opened up the lid and peered in to see if he was in the filter unit on the back. and there i saw him below, actualy stuck inside a rock. barely breathing.
His head was seeable through a small hole and from behind you could see he was curved into a almost painfull to see shape, the look of pure pain on the fishes face was horrible. after sticking pencils into small holes in the rock gently, i managed to straighten out his body, and was then able to pull him our by his tail fin with a pair of tweezers, again gently as not to hurt him. instantly he dropped to the floor and swam on his side, his body formd into a horrible disfigured curved shape.
i sort of hoped he would make it through the night and i could treat him for the various cuts and marks on his body but woke up this morning and he was dead.
heres a pic, rest in piece
