Does anyone know if this recipie would be good for cichlids such as oscars?

also, what about for smaller cichlids, like rift lakers?

Any suggestions?

*also, where do most of you get your earthworms?*

Thanks,
Black

What recipe are we looking at here?

oops, sorry, this one:
Ingredients:

*500 grams (1 pound) beef heart
*350-500 grams (3/4-1 pound) chicken livers
*1 can of shelled green peas
*1 large carrot cooked until slightly tender and pureed

*1 small packet of frozen spinach(150-200g) (Drained of all excess liquid)
*200 grams (1/2 pound) of prawns (I like to peel and head them otherwise they pass the shells and they end up sitting on the bottom of your tank)
*1 cup of fish food pellets crushed (soak this in some warm water to soften, they blends smoother if soft)
*5-8 Cloves of peeled garlic, crushed and minced/pureed

*2-3 packets of unflavored gelatin to bind(more may be used if a firmer consistency is desired)

*2-3 Good quality multivitamin ground to powder

Method:

It’s really quite simple, everything except the gelatin needs to be either minced or put in the food processors and made into a mince-like consistency. I recommend that you do each of the meaty ingredient in the food processor separately and then combine all in a large mixing bowl. It’s okay to blend all the veggies together. Once everything is blended up, combine it all in a bowl. Add the crushed fish food. Dissolve the gelatin in a little water (as little as possible) then also add. Mix thoroughly. Line a baking tray with baking paper. Spread the mix evenly on the trays at around 1/4" (5mm) thickness. Place two layers of baking paper over the mix and keep repeating until the tray is full. Allow to set up in the refrigerator, when firm score with the back of a knife into equal serving size portions. Freeze. Once frozen break portions up and store in a container in the freezer.

you can mix crushed pellets and fish flesh together and freeze it in ice cube trays... theres alot more that usually goes in a recipe.. like shrimp, krill and more.

I get my worms at either a LFS or a wild game/sporting goods store.

What do you think of the recipie?

also, do you ned a specific type of earthworm, or in general just those worms that some folks grow in their garages?

Thank you.

I personaly would use a mix of:

King mealworms guts, so you gotta get down and dirty haha.
Cricket butt, the big meaty part, so you gotta cut off the head.
Live fresh blood worms, frozen if you must.
HBH 8 VEGGIE Flakes, best stuff in the world.
Fresh Market shrimp
Beefheart
Krill
A couple drops of garlic guard for a lil kick.

That would be my personal mix for south americans, brings out their colors natrualy and a balance diet.

How about for proportions?

Also, do you feed these all at once, or feed in sep. groups?

Thanks.

Also, how do you get live bloodworms? I've been dying to find a way to raise 'em.

My store carrys them, so yeah haha lucky me.

But, if you find somone that do has them or could order them for you. Its easy, tupper ware, blood worms, water, fridge, done.

I dont really have exact portions. I just do it as i go and try to get the same ammount of everything in a mini blender used to blend garlic ect. Then feed them by ice cubes.

A lil dirty at first cause your fish wont know wtf your thorwing at them haha. Then they get the hang of it and snach it right when it drops the water not giving it enough time to disolve.
