I've got a 55 gallon tank and I divided it to make a 25 gal section for my small convict pair. On the other side I would like to keep a single or two large more IF possible for the 30 gals on the other side so I can feed the con fry that wonder past the divider to them.

All suggestions are welcome.

single firemouth would work.. you could do a temporary housing for a jd.. but ive had convicts breed in a tankful of other fish so you could probably remove the divider..

Your going to get a million different answers to that question. But the general rule of thumb is 1inch of fish per gallon but there are a lot of variables to consider like filtration. I will tell you the bigger the tank the more stable your water parameters "can be" for example ammonia will spike faster in a 30 then it will in a 120. basically you have a larger "margin for error" sort of.
