In 2 weeks the Greater Chicago Cichlid Association will be holding a fish auction where there are usually a fairly nice selection of new worlds that you won't find at your typical lfs. I had a little spare time so i surfed the web a little and made a list of fish that have a good chance of being compatible with my current stock and set-up. Since the cichlid forum proifle section provided a large list of cichlids and the data seemed to jive with my experiences, I added a lot of fish that I didn't think of based on their data. I'm wondering what other peoples opinions on the site are.

I believe he is asking if people on this site think that the "profiles" section on www.cichlid-forum.com is a trustworthy source

I'd say it's like many other sites on the Web, a good place for general info . . . I used to reference it myself many years ago, but I just took a quick look at it, and not much has changed since then

in other words, I think it's a nice reference for the basics . . . use it as a starting point, not the final word

I have had a look at the site a couple of times but to be honest I think its amount of profiles is pitiful and I can find the same info on other profile sites. Other sites also have many more profiles than this one with basically the same information.
Not a site I will ever use seriously. However, I never use just one site for info. It is useful to go around a few sites then ask questions in your favourite forum, I happen to use this one for questions.

I've found the information on cichlid-forum's profiles to be generally pretty accurate. But I always cross reference with other sources of information (cichlidae.com; club members' experience, etc.).

GCCA actually has a pretty good set of cichlid profiles...

Matt

I agree about the cichlid-forum's profiles - they are good as far as informative and accuracy.

That GCCA auction may see some of my breeding pairs. Green snooks and Blue labrindens are likely, possibly uros.

Thanks for the advice everyone
