I have 4 2-2.5 inch african cichlids and was wondering if I can keep half inch fry with them I have 2 african fry 2 red jewel fry and 2 very small convict fry. All the fry are in a seperate tank but I want to move them in my 55gal with the rest.
It depends on how small the fry are. Mbuna will typically eat anything they can get into their mouths. If they are big/fast enough to not be eaten it should be okay. There should be enough hiding spots for them, as they can get bullied to death if they get caught out in the open when your first introduce them to the tank.
yeah you'll be fine.. but the convicts are central american cichlids.. they'll be fine for now since they're fry, but once they mature, they will get nasty and really should be removed from the africans
If you have lots of hiding spots you might be ok, but I do agree if they can fit in the other fish mouths then they could be eaten if caught. I also agree that they could be bullied. Generally I don't keep anything together if one can fit in the others mouth.
