Hi there,

I don't know where exactly to post this thread, but I think here is a good start:

I talked with my girlfriend about next summer's vacation and Mexico came up. I'm cool with that because there are lots of reptiles and of course fish. I wonder if there are any well known habitats where I can easily spot cichlids? At best I would like to explore their habitat by snorkelling so I can take underwater pictures. Therefore the waters must have clear water and I shouldn't have to worry about laws (I don't care 'bout crocs though :D ).

Is there anybody here who has some experience with snorkelling for fish in Mexico? If so, which spots are recommended to visit?

I've always wanted to do this, not necessarily in Mexico, but somewhere. What region of Mexico are you looking at?

@Fishfreak95: Thanks for the links. Those Herichthys look nice!

@tbonewarrior: I don't know exactly, right now we are only talking. But I think the southern part of Mexico would be nice - Yucatan and the Maya ruins are pretty interesting too :D

Hi Matt, A film about Mexico would be awesome. Maybe I'll write an email to Mr. Heijns ;-)
