I didnt know where this belonged so I will put it here. I have 2 zebra/black convict cichlids. And the bigger white one is always picking on the younger gray one. What cna I do??? Should I add another fish in the tank?? I mean the white one is CRAZY lol :nilly:

post some pics maybe there fighting bc there both male or both females give them lots of hiding places so they can keep territories

Does either one have a orange/red stomach? If so, then she is the female. Males lack the oj/red coloring on the stomach.

I'll try posting a pic tomorrow but One of them has an orange belly now, but I don't remember it being like that before, I'm thinking scales have fallen off :'( I feel terrible. But its orange on both sides. :nilly:

could me mating behavior . . . best not to jump to conclusions; is there any actual violence, or just a lot of chasing?

also, how much room do they have (tank size?) ?

agree could be mating behavior.. if the one with orange (female by the way) is the bigger one then that answers the agreesion. i had a big female and little guy she always pushed him around till he got bigger than her and bred.. the way i see it is girls like strong guys who will be able to protect them and their off spring :) survival of the fittest.. how big are they at your best guess? and who knows if the bred youd probably get domino convicts or atleast its what ive heard from mixin the black with the white..

my black and white pair always produce all black or half and half but never domino or marble

i have two convicts in my tank and my female is smaller than the male i mean much smaller and she still pushes the big male around it may look like they are fighting but iv noticed when she does this she normally lays her eggs sometime soon afterand things calm down

Lol It could mean they will be having lots and lots of eggs!

Everyone's failed to mention the most obvious-that ounce by ounce Convict are about the meanest fish there is. Male-male, female-female, male-female-doesn't matter, they'll still fight.
