I was offered this girl yesterday, at a LFS I usually go to.

No one has a clue at what it is. any idea?

( Could this be african, a Tilapia of some kind? )

Yep it's a Mayan, from Central America. Not a Tilapia. They sometimes exceed a foot in length. I like them, some others don't. That one has potential to be a really good looking Mayan in my opinion. If he is fed a lot of krill, and some high quality staple food like Hikari Bio-Gold. that will bring ouit a lot of orange coloration.
