Cichlid ID please?

A buddy of mine bought a 125g off craigslist fully stocked with American/African cichlids. most fish went to our LFS. I took one fish the owner call "pinky". he had no clue was it was. I setup a quarantine tank for him and let some of his battle scars heal up. Can someone tell me what kind of fish I have?

Wow that was fast! thanks I was told it looked like a vieja cichlid but all the photos I seen was a normal body style. is the short body a hybrid version? can I expect the same aggressive behaviour from this guy as I would a reg vieja?

It's possible it could be aggressive. As for the short body. I believe the balloon or short body is caused by bad water conditions at hatching but others would argue its a type of parrot cichlid hybrid. There is no for sure answers

Short body can be caused by bad water conditions and the likes, but is just as likely (or even more so) to be a genetic defect (or desirable trait, depending on perception, like albinism, electric blue coloration, etc).
