My daughter and I went netting just outside the San Antonio Zoo in the San Antonio River. There have been all kinds of odd fish captures in that river before and we caught two cichlids that I can't ID. I know there are Talapia and Texas Cichlids in there but these being Juvies, I can't ID them. I can say fairly sure that they are not TX cichlids. Does anyone have a clue? There have been convicts and dempsy's caught in there before so I'm kinda curious.

Probably just a Talapia but they sure don't look like the adults.

Oreochromis mossambica

A pest Tilapia. They're over here too.

Edit: Here's a shot of a couple of juveniles caught in a local reservoir here in QLD, Australia.

Judging by the vertical body stripes and the dark patch near the end of the dorsal fin I'd say they're the same fish.

If they're Talapia, I won't remove them. They're in with my Monster TX seen here at 13+ inches..so they probably won't last long. He's a serial killer.

Badass texas. Best cyano I've seen so far.

Nice Tex. The tilapia do grow up nice though, I had a big Mozambique a long time ago, good fish.
