Aloha,

i picked up these cichlids the other day from a guy advertising them as
Albino socolofi. He told me that as fry, they are orange and will eventually turn pure white. Being the noob i am, i just took his word for it. Can anyone tell me what it is? I think it may be a peacock of some sort

I also got this little guy today from the "feeder comet" tank. Can anyone tell me what it is? im thinking its a golden convict. anyone know?

Thanks in advance!

Another question: can peacocks live with mbuna? or is it not suggested?

Albino Socolofi are born pure white and stay that way. I can't tell for sure but the first one might be an albino red zebra. A clear shot of the head would tell for sure. As for the second one I have no idea. It's not a goldfish, that much I can tell :)

Some mbuna can live with peacocks (yellow labs for example). It really depends on what species you are keeping. Generally it's not recommended to mix but it can work out of more mild mannered mbuna are chosen.

actually the bottom one may be a common sunfish that happens alot they get a sunny or a blue gill. may wanna share that pic in the natives area. From experience i got one before and raised him till about 6 inches. Very aggressive lil bugger he was, mean as **** to the other feeders i had in the tank. look awesome when they flare up. check you tube vid. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VLe0v4XCLmE

definitely not albino socolofi

looks kinda like Labidochromis caeruleus (Albino) to me

Ill catch the largest one i have, maybe he developed some traits that you guys can identify to tell me what it is ! Pics will be up in a few minutes.
Thanks everyone !

and i really really really hope it isnt a Sunfish. I'd have to give him away to someone that can keep such an aggressive fish if he is.

Pics are up

And whatever this is, are they worth more than the socolofi? and can they live with mbuna? (yellow lab / demasoni)

Aloha!

Albino labs are really more yellow and not orange. The head also says zebra type. Most likely a an albino red zebra. There are albino red top zebras where the females are orange like that and the males are white with orange fins. Either way it's a zebra type and not very uncommon depending on where you live. They will be fine with other mbuna.
