A little extra info might help, since there are 3000 legitimate species of cichlids world wide, and many look similar at that size.
What country was it caught in?
What state, or area?
What type water (desert pool, river, stream, canal, lake)?
And... a pic in a tank, so natural colors, etc are visible.

You will have no way of fully knowing untill it has grown more, if Im right you bought it as a flower horn but was told is possibly an early Trimac cross. Untill it's larger and showing a little colour it will be mainly guessing.

It’s a hybrid. No way of knowing unless you did extensive dna testing or had a pic of its parents, their parents, etc.
It is likely a flowerhorn, what percentage of what and if it is mainly a trimac hybrid will remain unknown.
