There are perhaps 100 or more species of Haplochrmines where males are only recognizable if location collection point data is known, looks alone are simply not helpful, and as far as females go, they are non ID able because they all look so much more alike.
Add to that (because of lack of separation breeding) over decades in tanks, even location sometimes doesn't help.
I attended a talk by a collector who goes to the rift lakes a few times a year, and he said once a female from one collection points finds its way into the wrong tank,and spawns trying to ID progeny becomes impossible
And if you got it from a LFS, even more impossible.
Unless you got it from a specialist who attaches location post data. Forget trying to ID.
