I know these aren’t the best pics, a friend got this stow away with a batch of peacocks, any ideas what it is

It has a distinct Tilapia spot in its dorsal fin. Most likely an Oreochromis.
Agree the Tilapia spot is obvious.
Since there are about 100 species of Tilapines and many look alike, it would be hard to nail down.

Above are young Coptodon zillii, note the spot in the posterior of the dorsal.
As they age , the spot sometimes disappears

Is there anything you haven’t kept? Lol

Been keeping primarily cichlids since 1958, and I've only kept a little over 100 different species.
Since there are about 3000 species of cichlids world wide, only about 2900 to go.
But my goal is to keep the 3 or 4 more Panamanian cichlids I have not got to yet, maybe there's enough time for those, if I'm lucky.
