Cichlid identification RT?

Can someone identify this cichlid, sold as red Texas. Can't tell if it's a red texas, pk, or even a gold jack dempsey

If you bought it at petsmart, there's a chance that will be a unfaded red texas or an actually red colored red texas. Just have your hopes up that it will grow to a beautiful fish

Good luck. I hope that chain store rt fades for you. The ones at pet smart here pretty much look like that. There is a sticky above "chain store rt" where you can get pics. I've tried a few times with no luck getting a fader. I'm still trying though lol.

It looks like some kind of Texas Hybrid

Yeah I hope it's more of a red Texas than a Pk. I was looking at that sticky a while but the tricky thing is that since they are a hybrid, there isn't a clear pic of what a juvenile red Texas looks like. All the ones I saw look like petsmart kamfas

Its a genetic grab bag...never know what comes out...culling for a certain look and back crossing is all I can say.

That one I going to look cool when it grows out...what ever it is. Looks like a jack Dempsey Texas cross
