Ok, the title might be a LITTLE dramatic but it caught your attention LOL:) Anyways, I had 2x Jewel Cichlids, 1 x Yellow Lab 1x Acei Cichlid 1x Rainbow in a 30 gallon. Well, I found my Acei Cichlid with its head torn off, belly ripped open, and eye pulled out of its socket! And, all my other fish were all beat up to! Now ALL are moved out EXCEPT for the 2 Jewels. And, it kinda sucks to only have 2 small fish in a 30 gallon So, What else could I put in there that will not outgrow the tank AND the Jewels will not kill? (If Anything...) Thanks for the advice!:D

Bump.

My dad has a Polleni and a Red Zebra Hap with his 2 Jewels in a 125. I have no clue what you could do in a small tank though.

I would check to see if the jewels have baby's they are great parents and very protective and in a tank that size the other fish have no place to go

Ummmm....take the Jewels out..

Yeah I Know about the breeding! I THINK I have a male/female... One is BRIGHT red with neon spots. He is out ALOT(the more agressive one)
My other one is dull colored and hides ALOT (doesnt even usually come out for feeding)! I check ed the tail for the spots to see if they are going all the way down but its hard to get a good look... I Have Had Them For About A Month Now, If They Are M/F When Will They Breed?

they might have already and they are protecting a clutch of eggs, look where the female is and you may see them. I had a breeding pair of jewels in my 120 and they pushed all the other fish to the other end of the tank and did kill one. there eggs usually hatch in about a week and are very small. as for adding convicts you would just be asking for more trouble because when they breed they are real nasty. in my experience jewels usually pick a back corner so if that is where she is hiding it is possible or they are getting ready

I have a few rocks in the tank, would the eggs be on/under there?
