I came home this evening, like every other day I stoped near my female dempsey tank to turn on the lights and say "hello" to her. She totaly freaked out, turned almost white and swam at the speed of light to hide like if there was a giant dovii after her.

I was shoked. She is the kind of fish always in my face, eating in my hand.

I tested the water for everything, but I knew the water was the same as every day.

I finally understood : she was not recognizing me since I shaved my head during the day. What an intelligent fish ... what a stupid fish ... I don't know.

jajaja my head always been shaved.....so they know me like that

lol sometimes my fish get really scared of me and I wonder what it is. I once noticed em hiding during feeding and I was wearing a very bright shirt, but mostly after large water changes.

can fish really recognize their owner though? or they just get excited with anyone that stands in front of the tank?

I noticed that my fish will withdraw from the tank if I have on certain colors or patterns. Red and white usually spooks them. I have dreads and when they aren't pulled back they sway around as I move. Sometimes it startles the fish.
