I have a 125gallon tank with a 55gallon sump and a 1800gph pump and I want to fill it with a large, aggressive, intelligent and pretty pair of cichlid. Would getting ~5 little fish be enough to find a pair?

Right now I'm leaning towards Midas or Festae, but my mind isn't 100% set. Tangled up cichlid has some beautiful festae that have me leaning that way but do they get to big for my tank?

if its a 6ft long 125 gal tank then i would say festae will be ok.

Go festae! Should be really good looking

Festae are gorgeous man. Im trying to get a pair of zonatus started with 11 only lost 1 so far

OK yeah if my tank can house them that's what I want. Now I just wait to find them.

i'd go with a festae pair, jeff does have some nice festaes i had a batch from him before.

Yup I emailed him but he is away for a days. The breeding pair he has up looks amazing. Now how many fish will I need to find a pair?

Festae will be tight as the male approaches 15inch, plan for an upgrade.

I would go with Midas, better suited size wise over the long haul. Even still, plan for some aggro issues as the fish become sexually mature. The more crowded big aggro fish are, the greater the chances of something going wrong at some point. It's just a basic fact of fish keeping.

+1 could do some aphilophus saggitae they are awesome in the white form.

edit, amphilophus lyonsi are nice and colourful if your arnt aware of those.
