my white cichlid is not using his tail to swim or cant. its active, washes his gills with sand gets in fights but just its tail isnt normal. sorta looks like its standing on its tail. ammonia is at .5-1ppm but all the other fish are fine.
I had a mbuna do that and its the only one I actually kept. I am not sure about yours but mind had rammed the glass to hard and pretty much paralized its back half and cannot use its tail. I would keep a close eye on it incase it starts to get picked on. There really isnt a way to fix that problem if that is the problem. However I can tell you that my fish is doing very well in a tank on its own. I feed it every other day and make it work for its food. I give it ghost shrimp everynow and then to keep him moving b/c if you dont the back will start to arch up. Just keep it active and if it does fine in that tank like that, then leave it alone.
ammonia is at 0 now. its not being picked on very much and it will retaliate if it does get picked on. very active still and seems normal. i have another cichlid that had its fin pulled out a little with meat sticking out. he was swimming with one useless fin but after a month it started wiggling and now its back to normal. maybe for the tail?
