Hey guys,

I'm getting a 75 gallon tank and was thinking about Mbuna cichlids but am open to all ideas.

I really want a nice colorful tank. Any suggestions on a good stocking setup with great colors?

I have kept fish on and off for awhile but nothing over 10 gallons. Right now I have two 10 gallon tanks (platties and crayfish) and a 2.5 that is cycling for two endlers.

So what colorful, interesting cichlids would you suggest?

Note: I'm not set on americas or african I'm open to anything.

Mbuna will be fine and or tanganyikians. Depending on how much you wish to spend on stock ofcourse.

Keep in mind, Depending on stock list - mbunas can be messy. So be sure you have proper filtration..

Furthermore, lets not forget water parms. Mbuna and Tang's have much different requirements.

mbuna thrive in waters w. Ph of 8.0 - 8.5 with a general hardness gh/ kh.

Tanganys do will in waters of 8.3 - 9.x Very high PH.

So need to keep in mind of the PH - If your source water has a lower PH, you will need to buffer it. I suggest Crushed coral in the filter, or if you have a little more to spend. aragonite mixed in with substrate. This will help keep a stable buffer.
