Cichlid Substrate questions?

Well I went to my LFS today and got a 40 gallon for my Kenyi.

I want to know if I take some of the rocks and substrate from my already established 55 gallon to help cycle the 40 gallon faster, can I add the substrate that I bought for the 40 gallon and add it to my 55 without messing the cycle up?
Is this an okay idea or will it mess everything up?
It is all the same stuff. (agronite?)

I'd put the new substrate in the new 40 cover it with cardboard take 30% of the water from the 55 and it's filter media and maybe a few orniments but not all put them in the 40 -fill both with fresh water.......remove the cardboard slowly , condition the water in both tanks and keep an eye on the ammonia in both - might need to do a 20% water change in both within a few days - both should cycle pretty fast 1-2 weeks. Also don't be afraid to feed that 40, the bacteria in the medias gonna need to eat.
