I am setting up a 55 gallon tank and have beeen thinking about painting the glass on the outside of the back of the aquarium. The tank has some stubborn water stains I can not get off. If I paint that side of the tank maybe you wont see the stains so easily. I know a lot of people choose blue. Is there a certain color blue I should go with, or another color?

I started out with Krylon patriot blue. Very popular amongst reefers. Then switched over to black ... makes everything pop out.

Try to hit the water stains with CLR or white vinegar and see if you can get them to lighten up a bit.

I have used black or dark blue on all of my tanks, but have seen some nice looking tanks using dark green.

Yep, vinegar will certainly help with the stains.

Black is best - started with blue and dark blues but black is best and combine it with black gavel to top up effect! W:eek:W!!! Blue lighting...hmmmm

Somehow black does highlight other

Got brave about 6-8 months ago when we had to tear down the 90g and painted the back black... Thoroughly enjoying it! Currently have my clown's, angels, tetra's and all in it... Definitely agree that it makes the colors POP!

Never tried blue though.... .... .... :-)

black is a good color. just know that it will absorb alot of the light in the tank. The tank wont look as bright like it would if it had a lighter backround.
as far as the paint goes, latex is ok, i used acrylic on mine. You can use either or.
