cichlid temps?

i was just wondering what temps everyone keeps there south american cichlids at, im at 82 degrees, but reading, seeing and hearing, i know people go all the way up to 86 and as low as 78, so, just wondering if there is a general feeling about where it should be.

differs by the tank and the type of fish; I keep my Gymnos at around 74, my EBJD at around 82, and my CA/SA community at 78 . . .

i keep my SAs around 80-82ish and my gymno tank is now at 74.

Depends on which river system I'm keeping, ranging from 76F for the Mato Grasso region to 86F for the llanos where blue rams come from.

South America is a very large continent... and the weather at the northen tip is nothing like the weather at the southern tip...

Blanket statements/assumptions should not be made for South American Cichlids as a whole.
