is there such a thing? is there any diy cichlid toys? id love to know of any if there is some out there for my flowerhorn

I've heard of some people having luck with ping pong or whiffle balls, just make sure they're big enough not to get swallowed. When I tried it the balls went ignored but it might be entirely dependent on the personality of the fish.

thanks for the responce i tryed that too and nothingi was thinking about stuffing a styrofoam ball withe pellets but idk if styrofoam is toxic to fish?

Best thing so far is other fish and sand to dig in and move around.

my very first oscar played with ping pong balls.

I saw a huge 14 inch plus Midas in my lfs years ago push a sinking red rubber ball around his tank and seemed to love the thing.

My LFS has a 8 Year old "true" Giant Gourami (the white kind) And it LOVES playing with a wiffle ball that sits on the bottom!

thanks for the responces but does anyone know if wine bottle corks an styrofoam are toxic to fish

I don't know about being toxic, but styrofoam could be broken off into small enough pieces to be eaten which could cause problems so I would avoid it, don't know about cork though

doesn't matter if they're toxic or not, neither should go in your tank. both are materials that could cause blockages in the GI tract if a piece gets swallowed. and if they're getting attacked by cichlids, there's a decent chance they'll get damaged.
my oscar loved rearranging plastic plants in his tank, it was a daily thing.
my sunfish will play with the snails, until they decide to eat them.
