Hello Fellow Members,

I need your help to get a positive ID on "Tuco". He was given to me a year ago because he was eating the other fish. The previous owner kept him in 6 inch net for a year! At that time he was only 3 inches. I felt sorry for him so I got him and raised him in my planted 100 gallon. Well his attitude moved him temporarily to a 29 gallon while I setup a 90 gallon for him. I was told he was a Red Terror Festae. What do you think? I love this cichlid! He(?) is a really nice blue with red/orange on the fins. Thanks for your help!!!

Thanks guys! I had a feeling it was not a true Red Terror, but I am not up on my Cichlids. He is definitely a keeper. Again, I am assuming he is a he.

I don't know guys, it doesn't even really look like a pure mayan to me unless it's just this particular pic. I'm thinking some kind of mayan hybrid maybe. are there any other pics of this fish or can you get some more pics?

I agree. It almost looks like a Uropthalmus X Midas/Red Devil but with more Uro traits showing

Whoa! This is getting interesting. Are there any particular views or details that would help?
I can post pics rather quickly. I really can't zoom in too close due to my camera, but I will do my best. Thanks for your help!

dont mean to go off topic, but how is that possible :screwy:

Benfica,

The guy kept the net floating in a 55 gallon tank. It was one of those typical green fish nets you see in Petco. He had the net sitting along the top of the tank, the mesh was in the water while the handle/frame spanned the tank opening.

It loks like your lighting the tank with a Actinic bulb.

If you are could you post a pic of the fish with the Actinic unplugged?
It will give us a more natural look and be easier to positively ID.
