Hey guys so I was wondering if there is any advantage to having a powerheads with cichlids? I have a green terror, salvini, and firemouth in a planted 75g. Right now the only current they have is from the emperor 400 hob on the tank. Should I add a power head for them or does it matter? If I do add one, what size powerhead should I get? Thelargest of the 3 cichlids is the salvini and he is just 1.5-2inches thanks!

I think it would be too much in a 75, I like power heads for bigger tanks to move the water around some.

I think a smaller/medium size would be ok. I usually have them pushing water from one end of the tank to another about 6" below the surface.

Fish will sometimes swim against them, even when they could ignore it. That is an indication that they enjoy it, isnt it?

A little current is always good with most cichlids...even angels and discus as long as it isn't too much.
