me and my wife would like to set up a 125 gal tank for 2 small breed turtles around 8" fully grown. our question is would we be able to add some cichlids in with them to give the tank more life? if so what kind would be best?

I don't know much about turtles, I've never kept them myself, but the most common answer I see to this question is no, the turtles end up nipping at the fish or causing damage, and there isn't much the fish can do about it.

The general consensus on fish forums is that it is not a good idea...

Yet if you visit enough pet shops you'll find it is somewhat common for them to keep large "ponds" with both turtles and fish...

Provided you keep swift species of fish that can dodge a turtle...

Provided you have areas the fish can fit into the turtle cannot allowing the fish a peaseful resting place...

I see no reason not to...

I suggest a paif of Convicts which will quickly start producing babies that the turtles are welcome to eat...

I have 3 turtles and I currently have an Oscar and two African Cichlids in with them. Slowly moving the fish out as their tanks become ready. Just moved my Convicts out but, I havent had any problems and its been a good 9 months.

i have done it before with no problems i would suggest fast moving peaceful cichlids such as severums or if you change your mind about cichlids try a school of bosemani rainbows
