Cichlids Are Mean

I tried to add a 4.5 inch polyterus senegal into my cichlid tank and I barely saved it from my oscar. The Oscar had the senegal hanging out of his mouth and he let go of it when I put the net in the tank and I got the little guy out and into a 10 gal.

His bottom jaw is messed up I am not sure how long he will survive.

This is why I don't mix oscars and polys.

seems you don't know oscars well enough. try housing your senegal with peaceful and smaller cichlids species like africans, convicts, etc.

how big is your oscar ?

Oscar was 7 or so inches and it never messes with the convict I have it with which is smaller then the poly. The poly is with 2 cons that I suspect to breed soon, and a upside-down pleco, which is freakin' awesome.

All I can hope for is the poly to make a comeback and survive, I always wanted one and this happens.

The oscar isn't mean. The poly just looked like lunch.

Personally if the poly survives to a large enough size to be added back into the 125 I hope the oscar remembers him. One bad reunion.
